92.5 Gold FM is the only adult contemporary radio station in the Gold Coast area. It was created on the 30th of September in 1967 and this year celebrated its 44th anniversary. During the 1980’s Gold FM attempted to focus on the under 40 market but was largely unsuccessful because of the amount of competition. When it reverted to being an adult focused station again it found that it was the only station looking at that market and was able to gain a very large audience in a short amount of time. Gold FM is the most successful regional radio station in the Australia. It often has guest appearances from both overseas and local stars.
